Breastfeeding Nipple Shield (30mm)
The Haakaa Breastfeeding Nipple Shield is a world-first design made of 100% soft silicone, with an extended teat that puts space between your nipple and your baby’s mouth.
If your little one bites down, pulls away, or if you have inverted or cracked nipples, you will still be able to breastfeed with ease and comfort. Our Nipple Shields suction onto your breast, giving you a hands-free breastfeeding experience.
Available with a round or triangle base, the Haakaa Breastfeeding Nipple Shield allows all mums to experience the beauty of breastfeeding without the worry of discomfort and pain! The round base is larger and suctions on more easily, making it more suited for those who are new to using nipple shields. The triangle base is smaller, but allows for more skin-to-skin contact, making it more suited for those who are more experienced with using nipple shields.
We offer two teat shapes: the orthodontic teat and the nipple teat. The orthodontic teat is thumb-shaped to replicate the shape of a mother's nipple during breastfeeding, making it more readily accepted by your baby. The nipple teat replicates the silicone teat of a baby bottle and is better suited to help your baby transition from breast to bottle.
Our Orthodontic Breastfeeding Nipple Shields have an opening that's 28mm in diameter and our Bottle Breastfeeding Nipple Shields have an opening that's 23mm in diameter for your nipple.
This product is designed for mothers who are physically unable to breastfeed due to sore, cracked nipples and should only be used in the interim before returning to natural breastfeeding once your nipple has healed. If you are able to breastfeed successfully and experience slight discomfort, we suggest using our traditional nipple shields as a protective alternative if your nipples become raw and sore.”
Absolutely love the orthodontic nipple shield! My sons latch had me in so much pain and started damaging my nipples very quickly but as soon as I started with this shield he latched on straight away and there’s no pain or pinching what do ever (which I’ve experienced with other brand shields) I’m so glad I’m going to be able to continue on my breastfeeding journey, all thanks to this shield :)
When our son was born, I'd naturally assumed he would feed like our older daughter, who had happily jumped from bottle to breast and back again for 12 months. I was then devastated when our boy suddenly stopped latching at just 7 weeks. Unbeknownst to us, he'd developed a preference for the bottle and wasn't interested in latching to me anymore. I was desperate to regain that attachment and the bonding feeling that only a mother can describe. Two lactation consultants and a maternal health nurse later, I was losing hope as I continued to express four times a day to keep my milk supply going. Finally someone suggested the Haakaa shield. I ordered the round one and held my breath, knowing this would be my last hope. It didn't happen straight away, but over the course of a week my boy slowly started to latch to me again using the shield. It doesn't work every time, but when it does I cherish it and feel thankful. My advice is to pour a little breastmilk or formula into the shield before positioning it, so that Bub doesn't get frustrated if needing to suck for a while. I've never been good at hand expressing, so I also use a pump to bring on the letdown prior. Thank you Haakaa for allowing me to breastfeed again!
This has been my saving grace for BF my son. I have an inverted nipple so it made BF easy
I was suggested this by MCH nurse during a breastfeeding support appointment as my baby stopped latching when he started feeding from bottle. I wanted to feed him as much as I could although it was difficult with sore and cracked nipples. This nipple shield was the best thing as it prevented sore nipples and my baby started latching as well. Now my baby latches and feeds without the help of nipple shield. I have recommended this nipple shield to some of my friends as well and they have found it useful too as compared to the other expensive ones available in the market which are not even worth.
Great purchase! My newborn was having trouble latching which was really stressful. This was the only way I could get him to stay on for a full feed.
